Thomas has an academic background in mathematics and engineering and joined EIP having studied for a PhD in Fluid Dynamics at the University of Leeds. Thomas’ PhD project focused on pattern formation in oceanic double-diffusive convection, in which he developed mathematical models of complex fluid flow patterns.
Thomas also completed a Master’s degree in Fluid Dynamics at the University of Leeds where he designed and built a ‘wave tank’ to demonstrate the impact of coastal defences on flooding. The wave tank is currently being used by a large environmental consultant company to determine solutions to flooding for the UK Environment Agency.
